Fiber Optic Installation Training Application Deadline

This training consists of mandatory online coursework prior to the hands-on portion that will take place in Anchorage, Alaska. The hands-on training dates are October 26 – 28.

NOTE: The first portion of this training requires 16 hours of online coursework to be completed independently and on your own time prior to the hands-on training.

Please ensure you have access to a computer or laptop, as this coursework must be completed by October 18.

In-person training will include:

• Fiber cable preparation and handling
• Fusion splicing
• Mechanical splicing
• Connector termination techniques
• OTDR testing and troubleshooting
• Industry safety standards
• Hands-on lab exercises
• Certification examination

Minimum Requirements:

• Alaska Resident (Due to grant requirements)
• Resume and Talent Profile on mybbnc.net are required for the application.
• Minimum age requirement: 18 years old
• BBNC shareholder, spouse, or descendant
• All students must have appropriate clothing (i.e. gloves, work boots, work pants, work shirts).
