Letter from the BBNC Education Foundation Executive Director

Posted on | Back to Posts

Cama’i,

It’s our favorite time of year! We look forward to meeting with BBNC shareholders and students as we visit communities for informational meetings and the annual meeting. It’s an excellent opportunity to connect on the programs available through the BBNCEF.

We’re also happy to announce the addition of two new board members. Rayn Aaberg is Dena’ina Athabascan and Yup’ik Eskimo and serves as President and CEO of Pedro Bay Corporation in Anchorage. Mr. Aaberg grew up in the village of Iliamna. He graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management in 2012 and is a BBNCEF alumnus.

Michelle Ravenmoon is Dena’ina Athabascan and lives in the community of Pope-Vannoy. She is currently working as a Summer Cultural Project Director for the Lake and Peninsula School District and the Igiugig Village Council. She is also the co-director of the Quk’Taz’un Outdoor Learning Camp and a working artist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Rural Development from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and an AAS in Early Education from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She’s also a BBNCEF alumna.

BBNCEF hosted BBNC shareholder and recent graduate DaJonee Hale (left) as our summer intern. At the conclusion of her internship, DaJonee signed a contract to play professional basketball with a team in Brandenburg, Germany. We’re excited to track her career!
