Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Posted on | Back to Posts

This notice is current as of April 3, 2020

We appreciate all the input we’ve received via social media, email and phone calls regarding COVID-19. This is a unique and challenging time for everyone—shareholders, businesses and local governments alike. COVID-19 is undoubtedly having an impact on BBNC and other businesses across Alaska and throughout the rest of the country. Until further notice, the BBNC offices are closed but we are monitoring all forms of communication.

BBNC’s long-term goal is to provide our shareholders with predictable and increasing dividends, and has done so since 1978. The foreseeable, negative financial impacts of COVID-19 are unquantifiable at this time. A distribution of $10.86 per share was issued to shareholders on March 6; the next distribution is currently planned for June 5, 2020, at $11.70 per share.

We understand the hardships being faced across Bristol Bay and beyond. We are working with other Bristol Bay entities to assess the immediate needs of our communities, as well as monitoring State and Federal resources that can provide essential resources and services to shareholders living outside the region.

Please keep yourself safe and healthy during these difficult times; find tips and reliable information below.

BBNC will continue to keep shareholders updated as new information is available. Thank you for your continued support.

Individual behavior can help keep your environment and shared spaces safe. Please remember to:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds (if unavailable, use hand sanitizer with 60%-95% alcohol)
  • Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Practice social distancing – keep at least six feet away from individuals outside of your household
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Routinely clean commonly touched surfaces
  • Be prepared at home by keeping medication, food, and supplies on hand
  • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
    • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
  • The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
  • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

If you are ill, please refrain from spreading any illness to others by:

  • Staying home when you are sick or have a fever
  • Disposing any used tissue immediately
  • Practicing cough and sneeze etiquette
  • Routinely clean commonly touched surfaces

BBNC will continue to monitor the COVID-19 for any increased level of concern or conditions that public health offices make regarding community-level strategies.
