Bristol Bay Native Corporation Celebrates Successful Virtual Annual Meeting

Anchorage, AK – Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) completed its virtual annual meeting on Saturday, October 2, 2021, capping off a successful fiscal year by paying over $32 million in shareholder distribution payments, continuing to offer employment and training to shareholders and descendants, and supporting Bristol Bay communities on the heels of a global pandemic.

“We wish we could have seen our shareholders in person, but we’re grateful for the number who participated in this year’s annual meeting by watching or listening in to the meeting, submitting questions, and voting their ballots.” said BBNC President and CEO Jason Metrokin.

Peter Andrew Jr., Hazel Nelson, and Kimberly Williams were all re-elected to the board of directors, and Gerda Kosbruk was newly elected as a board member. The BBNC Board of Directors convened upon adjournment of the virtual Annual Meeting of Shareholders to elect officers, who are elected annually by the board to serve a one-year term. Russell S. Nelson was elected to serve as Board Chairman and Greta L. Goto was elected to serve as Vice-Chair.

Incoming board Chair Nelson said, “I’d like to give a special thank you to outgoing board member Shawn Aspelund, who brought over 40 years of oil and gas industry experience. Shawn served on BBNC’s Board for nine years and as chair of the Industrial Services and Shareholder & Corporate Relations board committees during his tenure. Joe Chythlook has served on the BBNC Board for 31 years with 13 years as Board Chairman. Under Joe’s leadership, BBNC saw corporate earnings grow from $5.1 million to more than $125 million, and dividends and distribution payments paid to shareholders grow from $12.00 per share to $50.32 per share, annually. Joe remains a member of the board, and we are immensely grateful for his continued wisdom and leadership.”
