Mission
The Vision of the Foundation is that Bristol Bay Native Corporation shareholders will reach their potential, assume key roles, direct our future and ensure continued success. The Mission is to provide support for Bristol Bay Native Corporation shareholders to become self-sufficient, assume leadership roles through education opportunities and promote and preserve cultural heritage. Supporting shareholder education since 1986, BBNC's total endowment to the Foundation is $2,095,000 through January 2009. The Education Foundation board and staff have also raised over $1 million for scholarships since December 1999. Established as a nonprofit organization in 1992, contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. In 23 years, the Foundation has awarded over 1,960 higher and vocational education scholarships worth more than $1,754,965. Between 1999 and December 2008, the Foundation has provided an additional 548 scholarships to shareholders pursuing short-term vocational education training to assist with employment or promotion opportunities upon completion. Between 2001 and May 2009, 137 scholarship recipients graduated with bachelor’s degrees or other advanced degrees. Between 2002 and 2009, 118 recipients received two-year degrees or other vocational education certifications.
