Bristol Bay Village Leadership WorkshopEach year, BBNC conducts a two-day Bristol Bay Village Leadership Workshop in Anchorage, Alaska. The workshop draws about 200 village leaders from the 29 villages in the Bristol Bay region. These include village corporation officers and directors and village/city council officers and members. Workshop speakers address current issues that are important to Bristol Bay region residents.
2009 Village Leadership Workshop
BBNC’s 32nd annual Village Leadership Workshop was a gerat success, thank you for your participation! Roughly 180 Bristol Bay leaders attended the two-day event December 7-8, 2010. Information included programs and opportunities that affect the region and our state. The purpose of the workshop is to allow leaders to learn about issues first hand, and take home information that may help lead to economic, educational and/or cultural benefits. Most of the topics covered pertained to land and resources, education and training, and cultural knowledge. The first day opened with land and resource issues including presentations by The McDowell Group, The Bureau of Land Management, Jade North LLC, Minerals Management Service, and the UAA Marine Advisory. It was rounded out with education and training, and local hire presentations by Ugashik Village Council, BBNA Workforce Development, Bristol Industries, Kakivik Asset Management, and the BBNC Education Foundation.
The event included several side-shops on village BLM survey status, 14(c) reconveyance status, Native allotments and capitol improvement projects.
