Responsibilities:
     - Performs comprehensive editing, copyediting, and proofreading
     - Ensures compliance with standard technical writing conventions, internal and external style guides and other reference materials, and company practices and procedures
     - Edits and reviews a variety of highly technical documentation, including research reports, manuals, chemical data, figures, charts and tables, and other materials as required
     - Reviews written technical documents for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
     - Ensures document format follows pre-existing company formats
     - Ensures correct language usage, including grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, scientific terminology, units of measure, etc.
     - Ensures document consistency and quality control
     - Identifies problems and resolves them with project managers or other authors.
     - May require rewrites of content in cases of technical ambiguity through numerous revisions
     - May collaborate with writing teams to achieve consensus to produce complete and accurate deliverables
     - Communicates with local project managers and other authors, as well as those located on project sites in various parts of the country by phone or e-mail, to ensure project completion
     - Performs fact-checking on all documents
     - Excellent writing, interviewing, research, and communication skills
     - Ability to make complex materials understandable for various target audiences, including federal, state, and local agencies, as well as general/lay audiences
     - Strong skills in managing multiple project deadlines under pressure in a fast-track environment
     - Experience in working with chemical or scientific data
     - Experience with engineering/construction/environmental firms or similar background preferred
     - Working knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook and other style guides
     - Working knowledge of Microsoft “track changes” feature
     - Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients
     - Ability to prioritize multiple, and sometimes simultaneous, fast-track deadlines
     - Good organizational skills
     - May require occasional overtime hours
     - Professional and work-focused attitude
     - Attention to detail

Education
A.S., B.A., or certification in technical editing, journalism, or related field.

Experience
Candidate must have at least 5 years of professional technical editing experience or comparable work experience .
